2020年7月英语六级听力试卷真题解析passage2(新东方沈阳学校)

【听力原文-Passage 2】

原文:

(12) Public interest was aroused by the latest discovery of a changed genein obese mice. The news was made known by Rockefeller university geneticistJeffrey Friedman. The researchers believe this gene influences development of ahormone that tells organism how fat or full it is. (13) Those with the changedgene may not sense when they have eaten enough or if they have sufficient fattytissue, and thus can’t tell when to stop eating.

The researchers also reported finding a gene nearly identical to the mouseobesity gene in humans. The operation of this gene in humans has not yet beendemonstrated, however. (14) Still, professionals like university of Vermontpsychologist Eyster Ross Bloom reacted enthusiastically. This research indicatesthat people really are born with a tendency to have a certain weight, just asthey are to have a particular skin color or height. Actually, behavioralgeneticists believe that less than half of the total weight variation isprogrammed in the genes, while height is almost entirely genetically determined.Whatever role genes play Americans are getting fatter.

A survey by the center for disease control found that obesity has increasedgreatly over the last 10 years. (15)Such rapid change underlines the role ofenvironmental factors like the abundance of rich foods in Americans overeating. The center for disease control has also found that teens are far less physicallyactive than they were, even a decade ago. Excepting that weight ispredetermined, can relieve guilt for overweight people. But people’s belief thatthey cannot control their weight can itself contribute to obesity.

Questions 12 to 15 are based on the passage you have just heard.

Question 13. What do we learn about the changed gene?

Question 14. What does university of Vermont psychologist Eyster Ross Bloomsay?

Question 15. What accounts for Americans obesity according to a survey bythe center for disease control?

Q15 该题的关键词为“Americans obesity”“a survey by the center for diseasecontrol”很明确的出现在“A survey by the center for disease control foundthat…”考生只需要认真听接下来的部分“Such rapid change underlines the role of environmentalfactors…”就不难得出正确答案
